‘The House of Hope’ will be a permanent community-based support and wellbeing centre specifically for those impacted by breast cancer.
Located within Edinburgh, the house will provide a haven for users to access funded wellbeing and holistic therapies and services away from the sterile hospital or clinical setting.
Breast Cancer will impact 1 in 8 women in Scotland during their lifetime. The House of Hope will provide invaluable and much needed services and support for anyone in Scotland impacted by Breast Cancer.
The NHS do not have the operational resources nor funding to provide additional holistic care and support for breast cancer patients in and around Edinburgh. This is where The House of Hope will fill the void and work in synergy with existing organisations across the Scottish Cancer Network.
To provide support to those affected by breast cancer
"Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always." - Wendy Mass
The vision is clear. We want to improve the quality of life for people impacted by breast cancer by establishing the first bespoke breast cancer support and wellbeing centre in Scotland, providing access to funded wellbeing and holistic therapies and services away from the sterile hospital or clinical setting to complement medical treatment. The centre will offer a sanctuary for those impacted by breast cancer in any way or at any stage. Through the provision of fully funded, specifically tailored, workshops, classes, and support groups to empower participants, tackle social isolation because of a breast cancer diagnosis and provide a community to help service users feel connected.
"A breast cancer diagnosis at any stage can become all consuming. It can impact all aspects of your daily life and be all consuming. Inspired by the personal support I have received from Future Dreams House in London, The House of Hope will be a haven away from the outside world where those who are impacted by breast cancer can be who they need to be in a safe space, whilst offering connectivity, compassion, and community."
