with Kasia McCartney, PhD Candidate & Neurofeedback Practitioner

This gentle, in-person talk explores how our nervous system shapes the way we heal, reconnect, and move forward after difficult or overwhelming experiences such as diagnosis, treatment, or recovery.

When the body has been through a lot, it can take time to feel safe again. This session helps explain why that is — and offers supportive, practical tools to help calm the nervous system, rebuild trust in the body, and begin to feel more grounded.

Together, we’ll explore:

  • How the nervous system responds to stress and why healing can feel slow

  • Simple, body-based techniques for easing overwhelm and restoring balance

  • How identity and self-image can shift after illness — and how self-compassion can support this

  • The powerful role of connection and community in recovery

This is a welcoming, relatable session designed to bring comfort, understanding, and hope — reminding us that healing is not about “returning to normal,” but learning to feel safe, supported, and connected once again.
