Kate Seymour

Trustee

Kate has worked in advocacy and media roles for Macmillan Cancer Support for almost twenty years and is based in Edinburgh. As Head of Advocacy (Regions and Nations), Kate leads four country teams to influence decision makers and other key stakeholders in the devolved nations and locally in England.

Joining the organisation soon after the establishment of the Scottish Parliament, she established the devolved nations policy and public affairs function and has positioned Macmillan as one of the leading charities influencing the devolved governments and legislatures.

In 2017, she led the establishment of Macmillan’s local influencing function in England, helping to build the organisation’s impact and profile with local and regional health and care systems and new key stakeholders such as metro mayors.

At the heart of Kate’s approach is the importance of integrating advocacy work with Macmillan’s services and investment. A highlight of her career at Macmillan has been supporting the Glasgow Improving the Cancer Journey programme in its early days through to being a key plank of the Scottish Government’s cancer priorities.

She is a regular spokesperson for Macmillan in the media.

Prior to moving to Scotland in 2001, Kate held public affairs roles in Brussels, London and New Zealand.
