At the House of Hope, our mission has always been to support people impacted by a breast cancer diagnosis, not only those going through treatment but also the families and loved ones who walk the journey alongside them. A breast cancer diagnosis affects the whole family. Routines shift, emotions run high, and children often carry more worry than they know how to express.

That’s why we’re so proud to open the Cammy & Co Chill Zone, a dedicated space designed especially for the children of our community.

Why we're committed to supporting the children

When a parent receives a breast cancer diagnosis, children can experience a whirlwind of emotions like fear, confusion, sadness, frustration, and sometimes even guilt. They may not always have the language to explain how they’re feeling, and they often try to stay strong for their parent. In the middle of hospital appointments, treatment cycles and the uncertainty that cancer brings, children and young people need a place where they can just be kids.

The Chill Zone was created with exactly that in mind. Funded by Cash for Kids and officially opened by Cammy, son of our founder and CEO Lisa, this warm and welcoming room is built on an understanding of what it means to grow up with breast cancer in the family. Cammy knows first-hand how challenging that experience can be, and his vision shaped the space into somewhere he knows other kids will love.

His insight has created something meaningful: a room filled with comfort, creativity, laughter and calm.

A bespoke space for kids to chill

The Chill Zone is a place for children to relax, play, draw, read or simply sit quietly if that’s what they need. It’s a room designed to nurture connection, where children can meet others who understand what they’re going through without needing to explain a thing.

We are incredibly grateful to Cash for Kids for their support and belief in this project and to Nicola Cairns, Artist, whose stunning monkey mural adds warmth, colour and imagination to the room.

Supporting the full family

At the House of Hope, we know that healing doesn’t happen alone. Families need support too, and we offer a place to talk, to rest, to exhale, and to feel part of a community that truly understands. The Chill Zone is now a vital part of that wraparound care. We have also spoken to mums of people being treated for breast cancer and are setting up support groups for mothers to find a community going through the same experience.

Whether you’re a parent navigating treatment, a partner trying to hold everything together, a mum being strong for her daughter, or a child who needs a moment away from the worry, we are here for you.

You’re not alone

If your family has been affected by a breast cancer diagnosis, the House of Hope is your space. We have built a place where you can find comfort, connection and understanding, where children can feel safe and supported and where hope lives.

The Cammy & Co Chill Zone is open, and so are we. We can't wait to welcome you.

‘From the offset, The House of Hope has been a family project; to watch Cameron work as part of the team to fill a void that he felt was important for young people who are impacted by breast cancer makes us extremely proud’
